BILL NO. 113 -83 <br />s <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING $25,000.00 FROM THE CUMULATIVE SEWER <br />BUILDING AND SINKING FUND TO PROJECT CS821, IRONWOOD - IRELAND <br />RETENTION BASIN, WITHIN THE CUMULATIVE SEWER BUILDING AND <br />SINKING FUND. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bills, proponents <br />and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. John Leszczynski, Director of <br />Public Works, made the presentation for the bills. He indicated that the $70,000 <br />appropriation was for engineering and right -of -way costs for the Logan Street Project. <br />He indicated that Mishawaka was paying their share of the expense to install storm <br />sewers, signals, and channelization and widening of Logan Street. He indicated the <br />$65,000 appropriation would be used for engineering services for upgrading the signals <br />on Ireland Road and other various intersections in the City. He indicated the $25,000 <br />appropriation would be used to improve the Ironwood - Ireland retention basin, in order <br />to control some of the water flow in Clyde Creek. Richard Heyde, 3404 Corby, spoke in <br />favor of Bill nos. 111 and 113 -83. Council.Member Harris made a motion to recommend <br />Bill No. 111 -83 to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The <br />motion carried. Council Member Taylor made a motion to recommend Bill No. 112 -83 to <br />the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Crone. The motion carried. Council <br />Member Szymkowiak made a motion to recommend Bill No. 113 -83 to the Council favorable, <br />seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. <br />There being no further business to <br />Member Beck made a motion to rise <br />Memer Taylor. Council Member Serge made a motion to pass this bill, <br />seconded by Council Member Zielinski. The bill passed by a roll call vote of eight <br />ayes. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 7256 -83 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $70,000.00 FROM THE LOCAL ROAD <br />AND STREET FUND TO PROJECT R &S 71, LOGAN STREET.IMPROVE- <br />MENTS, WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND. <br />This bill had second reading. Council Member Serge made a motion to pass this bill, <br />seconded by Council Member Szymkowiak. The bill passed by a roll call vote of eight <br />ayes. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 7257 -83 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $65,000.00 FROM THE LOCAL ROAD <br />AND STREET FUND TO PROJECT R &S 8305, TRAFFIC SIGNAL IM- <br />PROVEMENTS ON IRELAND ROAD AND OTHER VARIOUS INTERSECTIONS <br />WITHIN SOUTH BEND, WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND. <br />This bill had second reading. Council Member Szymkowiak made a motion to pass this <br />bill, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The bill passed by a roll call vote of eight <br />ayes. <br />RESOLUTIONS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1091 -83 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL AUTHORIZING <br />THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF INDIANA, <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, FOR URBAN ENTERPRISE ZONE DESIGNATION <br />FOR A PORTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND. <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is the chief executive <br />officer of the City and is the applicant for Urban Enterprise Zone designation to the <br />Urban Enterprise Board through the Indiana Department of Commerce. <br />
