LAFAYETTE
BLVD. — HAMILTON TOWING, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PROPOSAL JPRE13 -056
Dear Mr. Relos:
Jones Petrie Rafinski (JPR) is pleased to submit this proposal to provide Asbestos Containing Materials
Surveys for City of South Bend owned properties located within the Ignition Park Expansion Area, along
S. Lafayette Blvd. These facilities collectively referred to as the Hamilton Body Shop, having been
recently acquired by the City of South Bend, are being targeted for demolition in support of the
development footprint of the Ignition Park Industrial Park. The specific addresses for which the Asbestos
Surveys are requested are identified, as follows:
Parcel Number
Property Address
Structure Type
71.08 -13- 101 - 001.000. 026
901 S. Lafayette Blvd.
Undeveloped
71.08 -13 -101- 002.000 -026
915 S. Lafayette Blvd.
Utility Structure
71- 08 -13- 101 - 003.000 -026
917 S. Lafayette Blvd.
Commercial Structure
SCOPE OF SEREVICES
The purpose of the asbestos inspection is identification of the presence of Asbestos Containing Materials
(ACMs) in accordance with the National Emission Standard of a Hazardous Air Pollutant (NESHAP) for
Asbestos 40 CFR 61, Subpart M, and 326 IAC 14.10, Emission Standards for Asbestos; Demolition and
Renovation Operations.
The survey of the property for ACMs will begin with a walk - through of the existing structures to document
locations of friable and non - friable materials that may be present. Friable materials are those that can be
pulverized or reduced to powder by moderate pressure, such as spray applied fireproofing and acoustical
materials, ceiling tiles and most thermal system insulation. Non - friable materials are those that cannot be
crumbled easily, such as resilient floor tiles and cement asbestos (Transits) board. Although emphasis is
on detecting friable materials, the possible presence of non- triable ACMs must also be considered, as
during renovation, non - friable materials may be pulverized or otherwise damaged so as to release
asbestos fibers into the air.
jprl source.com
:il Li19r5 lilh
59U511 i3J1d r!J "
x%125 L Jf.,yX i@ L4/.1
