11113 <br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 23, 1981 <br />BILL NO. 15 -81 <br />A BILL DESIGNATING AND ESTABLISHING AN HISTORIC LANDMARK <br />UNDER ORDINANCE NO. 5565 -73, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68, <br />AS AMENDED, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND. (935 S. IRONWOOD.) <br />Now is the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. John Oxian, Vice President of the <br />Historic Preservation Commission, made the presentation for the bill. He indicated <br />this home was built in 1895, and this was the first house to be designated a landmark <br />in River Park. He indicated that the owners of the home had requested this des- <br />ignation. Joyce Sherk, 935 S. Ironwood, gave a brief history of the house. Council <br />Member Kopczynski made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, <br />seconded by Council Member Beck. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 20 -81 A BILL APPROPRIATING $5,267.00 FROM THE DISCOVERY <br />HALL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />FOR RENTAL OF STORAGE SPACE FOR THE STUDEBAKER <br />COLLECTION TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT <br />OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE. <br />Now is the time-- heretofore set for .public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity - -to be heard..:,Kathy.Bernard, Director of Neighborhood <br />Code Enforcement, made the presentation for the bill. She indicated that the Status <br />of Women voted to recommend to the South Bend Human Rights Commission that the Wo- <br />men's Commission become a committee of the Human Rights Commission. She said that in <br />January of this year the Human Rights Commission voted to accept the Women's Commission <br />as a standing committee. She indicated this bill would delete the Commission from <br />the Municipal Code. Council Member Taylor made a motion to recommend this bill to <br />the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Kopczynski. The motion carried. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Whole, Council <br />Member Serge made a motion to rise and report to the Council, seconded by Council <br />Member Dombrowski. PROJECT. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Szymkowiak made a motion to pass this <br />bill, seconded by Council Member Dombrowski. Council Member Szymkowiak made a motion to pass this <br />bill, seconded by Council Member Beck. The bill passed by a roll call vote of nine <br />ayes. <br />
