EXHIBIT "A" <br />FIVE YEAR INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />AND <br />ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA <br />FOR EMS SERVICES DURING CALENDAR YEARS 2013 - 2017 <br />THIS AGREEMENT is made effective the 1St day of January, 2013 by and between the <br />City South Bend, Indiana and St. Joseph County, Indiana. <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend ( "South Bend ") is a municipal corporation existing <br />and operating as a political subdivision of the State of Indiana as defined by Ind. Code § 36- 1 -2 -13, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, St. Joseph County. is a division of the State ( "County ") as defined by Ind. <br />Code § 36- 2 -1 -1; and <br />WHEREAS, South Bend and the County are authorized enter into an interlocal agreement <br />pursuant to Ind. Code § 36- 1 -7 -4; and <br />WHEREAS, South Bend and County desire to enter into an agreement related to <br />ambulance services for certain areas located within St. Joseph County, Indiana; and <br />WHEREAS, South Bend and County believe that the services provided for in this <br />agreement is in the best interests of the citizens of their respective communities. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises and obligations in this <br />Agreement, the adequacy of which is hereby acknowledged, the Parties agree as follows: <br />I. PURPOSE <br />The purpose of this Agreement is to provide ambulance service to those portions of St. <br />Joseph County, Indiana which do not otherwise have ambulance service available.
