Filed in Clerk's Office <br /> May 18, 2026 May 1, 2026 <br /> South Bend Common Council Bianca Tirado <br /> 300 City Hall City Clerk, South Bend, IN <br /> 215 S.Martin Luther King,Jr. Blvd <br /> South Bend,Indiana 46601 <br /> Dear Members of the South Bend Common Council, <br /> 1 We respectfully submit this request for the Common Council's consideration and acceptance of <br /> an ordinance vacating 3.7'of public right-of-way located at 710& 718 Napoleon St.The <br /> requested right-of-way vacation supports plans to subdivide our lot at 718 Napoleon St.into a <br /> corner lot with a home facing St.Peter St.and a lot with a home facing Napoleon St. <br /> Construction of two zoning compliant,single-family homes would commence upon completion <br /> of all required permitting.The right-of-way vacation would increase the 718 Napoleon St. lot <br /> size by approximately 6%to facilitate the subdivision of the lot into two lots that each <br /> accommodate a newly constructed home. <br /> The community benefits of this project include: <br /> • The replacement of a rental home at the end of its useful life with two new owner- <br /> occupied homes for full-time residents and ongoing members of the South Bend <br /> community,including ourselves and another local family seeking to live near downtown <br /> and Notre Dame. <br /> • A new sidewalk along 718 Napoleon St. <br /> • Replacement of the existing non-ADA compliant curbs with ADA accessible ramps on <br /> Napoleon St.,both at the corner at St. Peter St. (our property)and the corner at St. Louis <br /> Blvd.(the neighboring church's property). <br /> • Replacement of the older and heaving sidewalk all along St.Peter St. <br /> Required exhibits,legal descriptions and supporting documentation are included for your review. <br /> Thank you for your time and consideration of this request.
