ORDINANCE NO. 6483 -78 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A USER FEE FOR THE USE OF AMBULANCE /MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, THROUGH ITS PARAMEDIC BRANCH OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT While the City of South Bend feels that providing Ambulance/ Paramedic services is of benefit to the overall population of the City, it also feels that it is both prudent and realistic to expect individuals who use this service to pay a fee which will partially offset the expense of said service. It is the intent of this ordinance to establish a fee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend: SECTION I. There shall be established a user fee of $35.00 per occurrence for services rendered by the City of South Bend through its Ambulance /Paramedic service of the Fire Department when a person is actually transported. SECTION II. The Board of Public Safety shall promulgate such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry into effect the intent of this ordinance. SECTION III. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements.
