ORDINANCE NO. 6483 -78 <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A USER FEE FOR THE <br />USE OF AMBULANCE /MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, THROUGH ITS <br />PARAMEDIC BRANCH OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />While the City of South Bend feels that providing Ambulance/ <br />Paramedic services is of benefit to the overall population of the <br />City, it also feels that it is both prudent and realistic to expect <br />individuals who use this service to pay a fee which will partially <br />offset the expense of said service. It is the intent of this <br />ordinance to establish a fee. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the <br />City of South Bend: <br />SECTION I. There shall be established a user fee of $35.00 <br />per occurrence for services rendered by the City of South Bend <br />through its Ambulance /Paramedic service of the Fire Department <br />when a person is actually transported. <br />SECTION II. The Board of Public Safety shall promulgate such <br />rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry into effect the <br />intent of this ordinance. <br />SECTION III. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect <br />from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the <br />Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements. <br />Passed,. as amended, October 23, 1978 <br />
