Mn <br />- <br />---- <br />Council Member Beck made a motion to suspend the rules for purposes of first reading <br />on Bill No. 90 -86, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried on a roll <br />call vote of nine ayes. <br />BILL NO. 90 -86 A BILL AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 7667 -86 FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES AND <br />WAGES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE CALENDAR YEARS 1987, 1988 AND 1989. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Barcome made a motion to suspend the <br />rules and have public hearing and second reading on this bill, seconded by Council <br />Member Taylor. The motion carried on a roll call vote of nine ayes. This being the <br />time heretofore set for public hearing on this bill, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard. Michael Vance, Controller, indicated this bill <br />upgraded foremen in other departments. He indicated the bill should be amended in <br />the Cemeteries by changing the foreman III position to foreman. He indicated that <br />the Century Center finance committee had recommended the position of Morris Civic <br />Theatre manager by increased and this bill reflected that increase. He indicated <br />that Section II relates to the sick leave formula that pertains to Teamsters and <br />non -union personnel. Council Member Beck made a motion to accept the amendment, <br />seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. Council Member Zakrzewski <br />made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, as amended, seconded <br />by Council Member Beck. The motion carried. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Whole, Council <br />Member Taylor made a motion to rise and report to the Council, seconded by Council <br />Member Beck. The motion carried on a roll call vote <br />of nine ayes. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 7675 -86 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 7667 -86 FIXING <br />MAXIMUM SALARIES AND WAGES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND <br />EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE <br />CALENDAR YEARS 1987, 1988 AND 1989. <br />This bill had second reading. Council Member Taylor made a motion to amend this <br />bill, as amended in the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Council Member Paszek. <br />The motion carried. Council Member Taylor made a motion to pass the bill, as <br />amended, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The bill passed by a roll call vote <br />of nine ayes. <br />Fred Rice, 2603 Grant Rd., spoke regarding the Police Department. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to recess, seconded by Council Member Barcome. <br />The motion carried and the meeting was recessed at 5:11 p.m., and reconvened at 6:05 <br />p.m. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to suspend the rules to allow the filing of a <br />bill with the City Clerk, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion to suspend the <br />rules and have public hearing and second reading on this bill, seconded by Council <br />Member Taylor. The motion carried on a roll call vote of nine ayes. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to reconvene as the Committee of the Whole, <br />seconded by Council Member Voorde.
