COMMUNITY RELATIONS <br />MAY 29, 2013 4:52 P.M. <br />Committee Members Present: Oliver Davis, Tim Scott, Valerie Schey, Dr. David Varner <br />Other Council Present: Henry Davis, Dr. Fred Ferlic, Karen White, Gavin Ferlic Derek Dieter <br />Citizen Members: James Burns <br />Others Present: Mark Neal, Kathy Cekanski- Farrand <br />Agenda: Pokagon Development Update <br />Migrant Farmers Update <br />Council member Oliver Davis Chaired the Community Relations Committee meeting which was <br />scheduled to cover two items. <br />The first was an update on the Pokagon Indian Tribe's investment in the southwest portion of the City <br />off of Locust Road. Oliver announced this update would be rescheduled for another time. <br />The second item was a preliminary update on the housing issues of the migrant farm workers. Oliver <br />said he was informed the workers were going were going to be dispersed this year in private homes as <br />opposed to being housed in one faculty as they were last year. <br />Henry Davis said it was in the best interests of the migrant workers and the city to get out in front of this <br />issue. This feeling was echoed by both Tim Scott and Oliver Davis. <br />Council Attorney Kathy Cekanski - Farrand said she would take it upon herself to get contract information <br />for the farm workers. <br />Oliver Davis adjourned at 5:01 P.M. <br />Respectfully Sq itted, <br />Oliver DaAs <br />Community Relations <br />
