REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 23, 1985 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the <br />Council Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m. <br />The meeting was called to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Serge, Braboy, Puzzello, <br />Taylor, Zakrzewski, Crone, Paszek, Voorde and <br />Beck <br />Absent: None <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />The sub - committee has inspected the minutes of the September 9, 1985, meeting of <br />the Council and found them correct. <br />Therefore, we recommend that the same be approved. <br />Beverlie J. Beck <br />Ann Puzzello <br />Thomas Zakrzewski <br />Council Member Serge made a motion that the minutes of the September 9, meeting of <br />the Council be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. <br />The motion carried. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1342 -85 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT FORUM AND <br />TRANS -TECH ELECTRIC, INC. FOR THEIR GENEROSITY IN <br />DONATING THE WELCOME SIGNS AT VARIOUS ENTRANCES TO OUR <br />CITY <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes with <br />pride, that new Welcome signs have been erected at various entrances to our City; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Council notes that the Achievement Forum began the sign making <br />project approximately three years ago; and <br />WHEREAS, the seven (7) signs depict scenes of South Bend including the downtown <br />area and East Race, as well as the University of Notre Dame along with the words <br />"Welcome to South Bend "; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council also recognizes that Trans -Tech Electric, Inc. donated all <br />of the labor and equipment to erect the signs by this past Saturday; and <br />WHEREAS, the generosity and pride in our community shown by the Achievement <br />Forum and Trans -Tech Electric, Inc. are great examples of the Hometown spirit of our <br />community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION 1. The Common Council commends the Achievement Forum and Trans -Tech <br />Electric, Inc. for their generosity in donating and erecting the seven (7) new <br />"Welcome to South Bend" signs at various entrances to our City. <br />SECTION II. The Common Council believes that the efforts of these two (2) <br />organizations are a great example of the hometown spirit and pride of our community. <br />SECTION III. The City Clerk is directed to send certified copies of this <br />Resolution to each of these organizations by sending them to Robert Urbanski, <br />President of the Achievement Forum and President of Trans -Tech Electric, Inc. <br />SECTION IV. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after <br />its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />/s/ Joseph T.
