REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 29, 1985 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the Council <br />Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was <br />called to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Serge, Braboy, Puzzello, Taylor, <br />Zakrzewski, Crone, Paszek, Voorde and Beck <br />Absent: None <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your sub - committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would <br />respectfully report that it has inspected the minutes of the April 8, meeting of the <br />Council and found them correct. <br />The sub - committee, therefore, recommends that the same be approved. <br />Beverlie J. Beck <br />Ann Puzzello <br />Thomas Zakrzewski <br />Council Member Serge made a motion that the minutes of the April 8, meeting of the <br />Council be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Council Member Braboy. The motion <br />carried. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1278 -85 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, COMMEMORATING THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS MADE TO <br />OUR COMMUNITY BY THE LATE HENRY FERRETTIE. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes with sincere <br />sadness the passing of one of St. Joseph County's finest and most dedicated public <br />servants, Henry "Hank" Ferrettie; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes with pride his eight (8) years as a Democratic <br />Commissioner from District 3; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council notes that one of Hank Ferrettie's greatest contributions <br />to our County was his leadership in bringing "cooperation pride, and enthusiasm" to <br />public office; and <br />WHEREAS, there are other countless contributions throughout our community which are <br />tributes to the hard work of Hank Ferrettie, some of which include: the County Services <br />Buildings in Mishawaka; the Capital Avenue Bridge; the continuation of passenger service <br />on the Chicago, South Shore and South Bend Railroads; and his many years of service on <br />County, regional, and other civic boards and commissions; and <br />WHEREAS, the sincerity and loyal dedication which the late Henry Ferrettie brought to <br />the Office of County Commissioner is just a part of the rich legacy which our community <br />will long remember. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. On behalf of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council <br />hereby publicly commemorates the late Henry "Hank" Ferrettie, for a life filled with <br />dedicated service whereby so many individuals were touched and enriched by knowing him. <br />SECTION II. The Common Council expresses its deepest sympathy to Pauline Ferrettie <br />and her family, and sincerely hopes that the rich and abundant memories of her husband <br />will brighten the years ahead. <br />SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its <br />passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />/s/ Joseph T.
