REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 14, 1985 A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Dennis Jordan, treasurer of Automatic Molded Plastics, indicated they planned to increase the size of their facility in order to meet customers' orders. He indicated this 34% growth would provide 50 new jobs. Council Member Serge made a motion to adopt this resolution, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes. RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY COMMONLY KNOWN AS 326 W. SOUTH (UNION STATION) AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION AREA FOR PURPOSES OF REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT. Council Member Taylor made a motion to continue this resolution until February 11, seconded by Council Member Braboy. The motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1247 -85 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF MAIN AND WASHINGTON STREETS, AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION AREA FOR PURPOSES OF REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT. WHEREAS, a petition for real property tax abatement consideration has been filed with the Common Council of the City of South Bend, requesting that the area commonly known as (common address), South Bend, Indiana, and which is more particularly described by a line drawn as follows: Lots Numbered Thirty -five (35) and Thirty -six (36) as shown on the recorded Original Plat of the Town, now City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, except a strip of land 21 feet in width East and West, taken off of and from the entire East end of said lots, more particularly described as follows: North on and along the West line of Lots 35 and 36, a distance of 132.45 feet to the Northwest corner of Lot 36; thence East on and along the North line of Lot 36 a distance of 144.73 feet to a point that is 21.0 feet West of the Northeast corner of said Lot 36; thence South a distance of 132.45 feet to a point of the South line of said Lot 35, that is 21.0 feet West of the Southeast corner of Lot 35; thence West on and along the South line of said Lot 35 a distance of 144.73 feet to the point of beginning. A part of the 14 foot wide alley that is known as Rasmussen Court and the Eastern 21 feet of Lots Numbered Thirty -five (35) and Thirty -six (36) of the Original Plat of the Town (now City) of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, more particularly described as follows; beginning at the Northwest corner of Lot 25 of the Original Plat of the Town (now City) of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana; thence South a distance of 132.45 feet along the East line of said alley to the Southwest corner of Lot 26;thence West a distance of 35.0 feet along the prolongation of the South line of Lot 26; thence North a distance of 132.45 feet and parallel to the West line of the alley; thence East a distance of 35.0 feet along the prolongation of the North line of Lot 36 to the point of beginning. be designated as an Economic Revitalization Area under the provisions of Indiana Code 6- 1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq.; and WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Commission has concluded an investigation and prepared a report with information sufficient for the Common Council to determine that the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area under Indiana Code 6- 1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq., and has further prepared maps and plats showing the boundaries and such other information as required by law of the area in questions; and WHEREAS, the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee of the Common Council has reviewed said report and recommended to the Common Council that the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. That the Common Council hereby accepts the report and recommendation of the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee that the area herein described be designated an Economic Revitalization Area and hereby adopts a resolution designating this area as an Economic Revitalization Area for purposes of (real or personal) property tax abatement.
