REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 14, 1985 <br />A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Dennis Jordan, <br />treasurer of Automatic Molded Plastics, indicated they planned to increase the <br />size of their facility in order to meet customers' orders. He indicated this <br />34% growth would provide 50 new jobs. Council Member Serge made a motion to <br />adopt this resolution, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The resolution was <br />adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes. <br />RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE <br />CITY COMMONLY KNOWN AS 326 W. SOUTH (UNION <br />STATION) AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION AREA FOR <br />PURPOSES OF REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to continue this resolution until February <br />11, seconded by Council Member Braboy. The motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1247 -85 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE <br />CITY COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF <br />MAIN AND WASHINGTON STREETS, AN ECONOMIC <br />REVITALIZATION AREA FOR PURPOSES OF REAL PROPERTY <br />TAX ABATEMENT. <br />WHEREAS, a petition for real property tax abatement consideration has been <br />filed with the Common Council of the City of South Bend, requesting that the <br />area commonly known as (common address), South Bend, Indiana, and which is more <br />particularly described by a line drawn as follows: <br />Lots Numbered Thirty -five (35) and Thirty -six (36) as shown on the recorded <br />Original Plat of the Town, now City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, <br />Indiana, except a strip of land 21 feet in width East and West, taken off <br />of and from the entire East end of said lots, more particularly described <br />as follows: North on and along the West line of Lots 35 and 36, a distance <br />of 132.45 feet to the Northwest corner of Lot 36; thence East on and along <br />the North line of Lot 36 a distance of 144.73 feet to a point that is 21.0 <br />feet West of the Northeast corner of said Lot 36; thence South a distance <br />of 132.45 feet to a point of the South line of said Lot 35, that is 21.0 <br />feet West of the Southeast corner of Lot 35; thence West on and along the <br />South line of said Lot 35 a distance of 144.73 feet to the point of <br />beginning. <br />A part of the 14 foot wide alley that is known as Rasmussen Court and the <br />Eastern 21 feet of Lots Numbered Thirty -five (35) and Thirty -six (36) of <br />the Original Plat of the Town (now City) of South Bend, St. Joseph County, <br />Indiana, more particularly described as follows; beginning at the Northwest <br />corner of Lot 25 of the Original Plat of the Town (now City) of South Bend, <br />St. Joseph County, Indiana; thence South a distance of 132.45 feet along <br />the East line of said alley to the Southwest corner of Lot 26;thence West a <br />distance of 35.0 feet along the prolongation of the South line of Lot 26; <br />thence North a distance of 132.45 feet and parallel to the West line of the <br />alley; thence East a distance of 35.0 feet along the prolongation of the <br />North line of Lot 36 to the point of beginning. <br />be designated as an Economic Revitalization Area under the provisions of <br />Indiana Code 6- 1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq.; and <br />WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Commission has concluded an investigation and <br />prepared a report with information sufficient for the Common Council to <br />determine that the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area under <br />Indiana Code 6- 1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq., and has further prepared maps and plats <br />showing the boundaries and such other information as required by law of the <br />area in questions; and <br />WHEREAS, the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee of the <br />Common Council has reviewed said report and recommended to the Common Council <br />that the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. That the Common Council hereby accepts the report and <br />recommendation of the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee that <br />the area herein described be designated an Economic Revitalization Area and <br />hereby adopts a resolution designating this area as an Economic Revitalization <br />Area for purposes of (real or personal) property tax abatement. <br />
