REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 8, 1984 <br />SECTION III. That the Common Council directs the City Clerk to cause notice of <br />the adoption of-this resolution to be published, said publication providing notice of <br />the public hearing before the Common Council on said declaration. <br />SECTION IV. Ernest Szarwark, attorney <br />for the petitioners, indicated Wells Electronics was expanding their facility. He <br />indicated this proposed tax abatement meets the criteria currently established by <br />the Common Council. Council Member Taylor made a motion to adopt Resolution No. <br />1212 -84, seconded by Council Member Braboy. The resolution was adopted by a roll <br />call vote of nine ayes. Council member Serge made a motion to adopt Resolution No. <br />1213 -84, seconded by Council Member Puzzello. The resolution was adopted by a roll <br />call vote of nine ayes. <br />Council Member Serge made a motion to combine public haring on Resolutions D & E, <br />seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1214 -84 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY COMMONLY KNOWN AS <br />3607 SOUTH MAIN STREET, AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION AREA FOR <br />PURPOSES OF REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT. <br />WHEREAS, a petition for real property tax abatement consideration has been filed <br />with the Common Council of the City of South Bend, requesting that the area commonly <br />known as 3607 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, and which is more particularly <br />described by a line drawn as follows: <br />The following parcels of real estate located in St. Jospeh County, Indiana: <br />Lots 1 thru 5 as whon on the plat of Ida M. Walz's Subdivision <br />to the City of South Bend, Indiana recorded October 13, 2938 <br />in Plat Book 14, page W -5 and Lots "D" and "E" as shown on <br />the plat of John E. Walz's Revised Addition to the City of <br />South Bend recorded June 28, 1928 in Plat Book 12, page 196 <br />together with vacated Lafayette Boulevard and vacated alleys <br />lying between the adjacent to above said recorded lots and <br />also a parcel of land 28 feet North and South by 211.75 <br />feet, more or less, East and West in the Southwest 1/4 of <br />the Southwest 1/4 of Section 24, Township 37 North, Range 2 <br />East, Portage Township, City of South Bend, County of St. <br />Joseph, Indiana lying South and adjacent to above said recorded <br />plats, the above combined tract being more particularly <br />described as follows: <br />Beginning at the Northeast corner of Lot 1 as shown on said recorded plat of Ida <br />M. Walz's Subdivision, said point being the Southwest corner of Main Street and <br />Sherwood Street; thence West along the South line of Sherwood Street 465.`85 feet <br />to a point 7 feet East of the West line of said Section 24, being also the East <br />line of a 7 foot alley; thence South along said East line of alley 245.6 feet of <br />the South line of said John E. Waltz's Revised Addition; thence East along said <br />South line 234.55 feet to a point 211.75 feet West of the West line of Main <br />Street, as now established; thence South 28 feet; thence East parallel with the <br />South line of said recorded plat of John E. Walz's Revised Addition 209.82 feet <br />to the West line of Main Street; thence Northeasterly along said West line of <br />Main Street 282.92 feet to the point of beginning. <br />be designated as an Economic Revitalization Area under the provisions of Indiana Code <br />6 -1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq.; and <br />WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Commission has concluded an investigation and prepared <br />a report with information sufficient for the Common Council to determine that the <br />area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area under Indiana Code 6- 1.1- 12.1 -1, et <br />seq., and has further prepared maps and plats showing the boundaries and such other <br />information as required by law of the area in question; and <br />. WHEREAS, the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee of the Common <br />Council has reviewed said report and recommended to the Common Council that the area <br />qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. That the Common Council hereby accepts the report and recommendation <br />of the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee that the area herein described <br />be designated an Economic Revitalization Area and hereby adopts a Resolution designating <br />this area as an Economic Revitalization Area for purposes of Real property tax abatement. <br />
