REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 25, 1984 <br />A public hearing was held on the resolutions at this time. Gerald Lerman, of Steel <br />Warehouse, indicated these two abatements would be used to purchase machinery that <br />will strengthen the competitive position of this. He indicated that approximately <br />15 new jobs.will be created. Council Member Taylor made a motion to adopt Resolution <br />No. 1168 -84, seconded by Council Member Serge. The resolution was adopted by a roll <br />call vote of nine ayes. Council Member Taylor made a motion to adopt Resolution No. <br />1169 -84, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The resolution was adopted by a <br />roll call vote of nine ayes. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1170 -84 <br />A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE ADOPTION OF A DECLARATORY RESOLUTION <br />DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />COMMONLY KNOWN AS 620 EAST BRONSON TO BE AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION <br />AREA FOR PURPOSES OF TAX ABATEMENT. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend has adopted a Declaratory <br />Resolution designating certain areas within the City as Economic Revitalization <br />Areas for the purpose of tax abatement consideration; and <br />WHEREAS, a Declaratory Resolution designated the area commonly known as 630 <br />East Bronson, South Bend, Indiana, and more particularly described by a line drawn <br />as follows: <br />A parcel of land being a part of Lots 91 -98 and 99 -106 J. Rush's 4th Addition, <br />and part of Lots 124, 125 and 132, E. H. Rush's Addition, City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, and being more particularly described as follows: <br />Beginning at the intersection of the new South right -of -way line of Bronson <br />Street (60 feet R/W) and the centerline of the now vacated Clinton Street; <br />thence South 890- 49100" East along the new South right -East, a measured distance <br />of 28.35 feet to the new West right -of -way line of Marietta Street (60 feet <br />R/W); thence South 0003'24" East along said West right -of -way line of Marietta <br />Street, a measured distance of 359.00 feet; thence North 89049100" West, a <br />measured distance of 269.02 feet to the centerline of the now vacated Clinton <br />Street; thence North 0- 03' -24" Westalong said centerline of now vacated Clinton <br />Street, a measured distance of 379.00 feet to the place of beginning containing <br />2.3361 acres more or less. Subject to any easements convenants, or restrictions <br />of record. <br />as an Economic Revitalization Area; and <br />WHEREAS, notice of the adoption of a Declaratory Resolution and the public <br />hearing before the Council has been published pursuant to Indiana Code 6-1.1- 12.1 -2- <br />5; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council held a public hearing for the purposes of hearing all <br />remonstrances and objections from interested persons; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the qualifications for an economic <br />revitalization area have been met. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the CIty of South Bend, <br />Indiana. as follows: <br />SECTION I. That the Common Council hereby confirms its Declaratory Resolution <br />designating the area described herein as an Economic Revitalization Area for the <br />purposes of tax abatement. Such designation is for real property tax abatement only <br />and is limited to five (5) calendar years from the date of adoption of a Declaratory <br />Resolution by the Common Council. <br />SECTION II. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after <br />its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />/s /Beverlie J. Kevin Butler, attorney, <br />indicated this was a reaffirmation of a resolution passed earlier by the Council. <br />He indicated they planned to construct a new facility in the Monroe /Sample area. <br />Council Member Serge made a motion to pass this bill, seconded by Council Member <br />Taylor. The resolution was passed by a roll call vote of nine ayes. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1171 -84 <br />A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE ADOPTION OF A DECLARATORY RESOLUTION <br />DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />COMMONLY KNOWN AS 115 W. COLFAX TO BE AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION <br />AREA FOR PURPOSES OF TAX ABATEMENT. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend has adopted a Declaratory <br />Resolution designating certain areas within the City as Economic Revitalization <br />Areas for the purpose of tax abatement consideration; and <br />WHEREAS, a Declaratory Resolution designated the area commonly known as 115 W. <br />Colfax, South Bend, Indiana, and more particularly described by a line .drawn as <br />follows: <br />
