REGULAR MEETING MAY 29, 1984 A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. T. Brooks Brademas indicated this building would be used for office space for small existing businesses. He indicated he planned to move his operation from Mishawaka to this building. He indicated there will be a wide range of support services provided in -house for these business, which includes a telephone system, word processing, computer support, reproduction services, conference room and related business services that are generally too expensive for a small business to provide and support by themselves. He indicated that over 100 new jobs will be created. Milton Katz, 1845 Churchill Dr., spoke against tax abatement. Council Member Puzzello made a motion to adopt this resolution, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of seven ayes and two nays (Council Members Zakrzewski and Crone.) BILLS, FIRST READING BILL NO. 55 -84 A BILL APPROVING THE FORM AND TERMS OF LOAN AGREEMENT, MORTGAGE AND SECURITY AGREEMENT, PROMISSORY NOTE, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT REVENUE BOND, AND TRUST INDENTURE, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION THEREOF AND APPROVING RESOLUTION NO. 26 -80 OF THE SOUTH BEND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION RELATING TO THE METAL RESOURCES CORPORATION PROJECT. This bill had first reading. Council Member Serge made a motion to accept the substitute bill on file with the City Clerk, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. Council Member Puzzello made a motion to set this bill for public hearing and second reading June 11, 1984, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. BILL NO. 56 -84 A BILL TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: A PART OF THE ALLEY THAT IS KNOWN AS RASMUSSEN COURT OF THE ORIGINAL PLAT OF THE TOWN (NOW CITY) OF SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA, MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: BEGINNING AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF LOT 36 OF SAID PLAT, THENCE EAST A DISTANCE OF 14.0 FEET ALONG THE PROLONGATION EXTENSION OF THE NORTH LINE OF SAID LOT 36 TO THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF LOT 25, THENCE SOUTH A DISTANCE OF 146.45 FEET ALONG THE EAST LINE OF SAID ALLEY, THENCE NORTHWEST A DISTANCE OF 19.8 FEET TO THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF LOT 35, THENCE NORTH A DISTANCE OF 132.45 FEET ALONG THE EAST LINE OF SAID ALLEY TO THE POINT OF BEGINNING. SAID TRACT CONTAINS 1952 SQUARE FEET (0.045 ACRES). This bill had first reading. Council Member Braboy made a motion to set this bill for public hearing and second reading June 11, and refer it to the Zoning and Vacaton Committee, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Report from Area Plan - Bill No. 33 -84. Council Member Voorde made a motion to set this bill for public hearing and second reading June 11, and refer it to the residential Neighborhood Committee, seconded by Council Member Crone. The motion carried. Council Member Paszek indicated there are many street lights out in the City and the I &M is not cooperating in regard to getting them turned on. There being no further business to come before the Council, unfinished or new, Council Member Taylor made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Council Member Serge.
