MATILDA KOTZ 1858 – 1942, lived her entire life at the Kotz Family Farmhouse at 17510
Cleveland Road, South Bend. She is buried at Tutt Cemetery. Matilda's square Grand
Piano was left in the Kotz Family Farmhouse after Charles Kotz’s passing. The square grand
remained in the Kotz Farmhouse until 1995. It was left in the living room by the home’s
third owner Pat Brown. Pat Brown owned the Kotz Family Farmhouse from 1960 to 1995
and left Mathilda’s piano behind which they faithfully tuned every six months. Pat felt that
the piano belonged to the house. Unfortunately, the next owners must have sold or
removed this prized possession and it’s current whereabouts are unknown. There are
photographs of this piano in the living room and we are seeking the piano’s whereabouts in
hopes of someday reacquiring it.
