AND PAINTINGS <br /> <br />Home of V.P. Colfax <br /> <br />Daniel Kotz found more and more of his favorite subject matter throughout the New <br />England area, where he painted until his death in 1933. His contemporaries and friends <br />included Thomas Eakins, J. Francis Murphy, Alexander Schilling, Max Bohm, John Noble, and <br />George Inness. Daniel Kotz died in Park Ridge, New Jersey in 1933. Submitted August 2007 <br />by Michael R. Perez, Art Collector and Historian, The Artisfun Gallery Sources include <br />interviews with Steve Bentrup, art collector who knew the family; Peter Hastings Falk, Editor, <br />Who Was Who in American Art, copies of exhibition catalogues. <br /> <br />Daniel Kotz was also a charter member of the Art Institute of Chicago. He was also one of <br />the original founders of the Chicago Art League. <br />
