ORDINANCE NO. 6629 -79 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 5, <br />SECTION 2 -50 COMMONLY KNOWN AS BOARDS OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY AND OF PUBLIC WORKS. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />Public Law 169 would allow the Board of Public Works to enter <br />into contracts for any real or personal property, and to contract <br />for any services or work without approval of the Common Council <br />where the amount does not exceed Ten Thousand ($10,000.00) Dollars. <br />The Common Council believes that the present amount of less <br />than $7,500.00 is a reasonable figure and wishes to retain the <br />ratification process for all larger amounts. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. Chapter 2, Article 5, Section 2 -50 of the Municipal <br />Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is hereby amended by the <br />inclusion of a new subsection (g) which shall read as follows: <br />SEC. 2 -50 <br />(g) All contracts concerning municipal utilities which are <br />for the purchase of any real estate or personal property, and all <br />contracts for any services or work where the amount to be expended <br />shall exceed the sum of Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00 <br />must be approved by ordinance of the Common Council. <br />SECTION II.
