Our city is one of 242 communities <br /> Henry Davis, Jr. <br /> Second District in the United States who have received this status for its "remarkable <br /> commitments to bicycling". <br /> Valerie Sch ey <br /> Third District On March 11, 2013, the South Bend Common Council passed Ordinance No. <br /> Fred Ferlic 10223-13. That ordinance established local safety regulations when passing <br /> Fourth District bicycles when operated in the City of South Bend city limits. <br /> David Varner As of this year, the City's website "Bike South Bend" notes that the city has <br /> Fifth District approximately 62.4 miles of bicycle lanes or routes established within the city <br /> Oliver J. Davis limits which consist of multi-purpose paths separated by streets (15.0 miles) <br /> Sixth District striped bike lanes (16.5 miles) and other designated on-street routes (30,9 miles). <br /> Derek D. Dieter Perhaps due to the rising gasoline prices and an increasing focus on "going <br /> At Large <br /> green", South Bend like many other communities, is experiencing a growing <br /> Gavin Ferlic number of persons operating mopeds. Unfortunately, some of the headlines this <br /> At Large month published by the news media have been "S-Year-Old Run Over by Moped" <br /> Karen L. White and "Moped Crash Tuesday Afternoon Leaves Man Dead". <br /> At Large <br /> We are introducing the attached proposed ordinance. It is aimed at helping <br /> protect the health, safety and welfare of our residents. <br /> We have collaborated with the City Administration so that the best possible <br /> regulations are being proposed. We have additionally reviewed regulations which <br /> have been in effect in some other 2nd class Indiana cities. <br />
