Each position is <br />receiving an approximate 5.4% increase above the 1979 rate. <br />Please be advised that, pursuant to the merit recommendations <br />made by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (formerly the <br />U.S. Civil Service Commission), pay grades have been established <br />which are linked to position descriptions and job classifications. <br />Pay grades have been designated for the various positions to <br />provide the director with the flexibility to follow the merit <br />guidelines and to take into account both length of service and <br />productivity. <br />Your favorable consideration is requested. <br />Very truly yours, <br />//-OA <br />Peter J.
