CITY ­OF S_OUTH BEND <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />Page Three <br />May 23, 1979 <br />As you may recall, because of budgetary restrictions, the <br />administration included only a small amount of money in <br />the M.V.H. Street's budget for materials. The original <br />intent was to provide these funds through other sources <br />such as revenue sharing, capital improvement funds, and <br />community development funds. At that time, the City was <br />considering a very small basic street maintenance plan. <br />With additional funding now present, we would like to <br />expand the street maintenance program to a level that is more <br />appropriate in view of the last two severe winters the <br />Cith has faced. We plan on spending a total of $480,000.00 from <br />this appropriation for either materials, curbs, or pavement <br />grinding. Mr. McMahon can provide more detail for this <br />expenditure. <br />Lastly, we find upon reviewing our insurance appropriations <br />that we will need an additional $20,000.00 to cover the <br />cost of exposure created by street operations. <br />If you have questions concerning this Ordinance, please <br />feel free to contact myself, Mr. Mullen, Mr. McMahon or <br />Mr. Stancati. <br />Sincerely, <br />Michael L.
