Talboom Deputy <br /> <br /> <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB-COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br /> <br />Councilmember Scott made a motion that the minutes of the April 23, 2012 Meeting of <br />the Council be accepted and placed on file. Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the <br />motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br /> <br />SWEARING IN OF JULIANE JAMES AS A CITIZEN MEMBER FOR THE <br />PERSONNEL & FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> <br />City Clerk John Voorde sworn in Juliane James as a Citizen Member of the Personnel <br />and Finance Committee for 2012. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4175-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />HONORING ALL POLICE OFFICERS KILLED <br />IN THE LINE OF DUTY AND DECLARING <br />FRIDAY, MAY 18, 2012 AS A DAY OF <br />REMEMBRANCE AND DEDICATION TO ALL <br />SOUTH BEND POLICE OFFICERS AND <br />THTH <br />DECLARING MAY 14 – MAY 18 AS <br />POLICE OFFICERS MEMORIAL WEEK IN <br />SOUTH BEND <br /> <br />Whereas, last year, 166 police officers were tragically killed in the line of duty, <br />with these officers including 155 men and 16 women whose average age was 41 years <br />and whose average years of service was 12 years 9 months; which was an increase from <br />162 police officer deaths in 2010, reflecting an dramatic increase of 40% from 2009; and <br /> <br /> 1 <br /> <br />
