Certain areas of the home are in need of urgent attention, as water infiltration has
occurred in several spots. During rainfall, water penetrates behind the fiber cement
and wood siding, collecting near a downstairs window and causing interior damage.
Additional sections show signs of prior water intrusion due to improper sealing. By
proceeding with this project promptly, we can prevent further deterioration of original
materials and avoid potential health concerns such as mold growth or structural
decay... We deeply value the preservation of our historic home and are committed to
making these improvements in a way that upholds the architectural character of both
the property and the surrounding district. Our intent is to protect the structure from
ongoing damage while ensuring it continues to contribute positively to the historic
fabric of South Bend.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to working collaboratively
with the Commission on this matter.
Sincerely,
Edgar Medina
Homeowner, 523 S Saint Joseph Street
South Bend, Indiana
