• The South Bend Redevelopment Authority July 17, 2002 Meeting Minutes on the parcel of land next to the 18t'' green, and thought it was worth the wait to get the easement cleared up and have that view of the golf course from their hotel. The easement with Marathon should be cleared up by the end of the year and there is a sanitary sewer that runs through the property that will have to be moved. Construction of the hotel should be able to begin early in 2003. Mr. Alvarez asked how important a hotel would be in that area. Mr. Rock said he thought it would be a major catalyst for the Corporate Park. The -hotel is an upscale hotel which should be used greatly by the businesses in the area. It will have a good restaurant which is needed in the Blackthorn area. Ms. Pfotenhauer asked about any south side news. Mr. Rock thought that negotiations were still going on in regards to Scottsdale Mall. Ms. Pfotenhauer asked about. a Quality Inn going in on U.S. 31 South where the land was annexed into the City. Mr. Rock said he thought they had a Building Permit for it and it should go in. Ms. Pfotenhauer asked about the Wa1Mart that was suppose to go in there and Mr. Rock said there is a possibility of them still putting it in. They dropped the project before because of the extended wait on the water and sewer lines. Mr. Rock said he thought a lot of businesses are looking at the south side and realizing the market is there. • Mr. Rock said the TJX site is really coming along with all the landscaping that has been done. Construction of the building should begin soon. 5. NEXT MEETING DATE: August 7, 2002 6.
