•

4. STAFF UPDATE
Mr. Alvarez asked for an update to the damaged canopies at Century Center. Mr. Inks
said he has not heard, but will find out if it is covered by insurance or just the City.
Ms. Pfotenhauer asked if there are any new developments around the City. Mr. Inks said
there may be some new bond issues for 2002. There are a number of opportunities in the
downtown. Ms. Pfotenhauer asked about the corner of Jefferson and Main. Mr. Inks said
because the City cannot guarantee the number of parking spaces that First Source needs
we are unable to buy their parking lot so that quarter block of land can be developed.
There are other areas that are being looked at for office development in the downtown. In
the Airport area there is more road work that needs to be done than funding available.
Olive Road needs to be widened because of the Tire Rack and the bridge north of there
that the county will be completing, so a bond may be used for that. Mr. Alvarez asked if
there were any companies closing iri the Blackthorn Development Area. Mr. Inks said
there are three or four.
