To answer your questions: 1) The ramp will be free-standing, and the upper platform will be built over and supported by the existing concrete steps/platform currently at our back door. It won't be supported by any new connections to the house or garage. 2) I don't have a specific model of replacement door for the garage entry, but it is specified that they use a solid wood door that matches the original as closely as possible. Don't know if this is relevant, but the current door is also not historical/original to the structure -- I believe it went in about 20 years ago when the roof was replaced. Do you have a picture of what the garage service door will be replaced with? Since it is the replacement of a historic wooden door, we will need specific details of what you intend to put in its place (materials, design, etc.).
