East Res. <br />* Funds are subject to the City Controller's determination of availability; if funds are unavailable, as solely determined by the City Controller, then the <br />authorization of the expenditure of such funds shall be void and of no effect. <br /> <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Approval of the Resolution Accepting Transfer of 1636 Lincoln Way West from County <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />SPECIFICS: The property at 1636 Lincoln Way West is the site of the former South Bend Brewing Association. The <br />former brewery was demolished in 2022 during an emergency demolition action by the City of South Bend as the <br />building was near collapse and threatened the public safety in the adjacent right-of-way. Th is action placed a lien <br />on the property owed to the City. Since the lien has been unpaid, the County Commissioners have approved to <br />transfer ownership to the City to assist in redevelopment of the property. The proposed resolution accepts the <br />transfer of ownership of this parcel from the County Board of Commissioners to the Redevelopment <br />Commission. The County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution No. R-14-C-2025 to transfer this property <br />to the Redevelopment Commission at their meeting held on August 14th, 2025. <br /> <br />The parcel is now a vacant lot and is a promising opportunity for redevelopment efforts. The site is adjacent to <br />the proposed extension of the Coal Line Trail Phase III which will link the existing Coal Line Trail to the new <br />Dream Center.
