It would also modify various provisions to <br />assist in updating its overall operations so that they can be more pro-active and <br />effective. This ordinance would: <br />• Reduce the Youth Advisory Council from 19 members to 11 members <br />• Would permit each District Council Member to select a youth representative, <br />with all other youth representatives being selected by the At Large Council <br />Members <br />David Varner • Would mandate that the application form be able to be downloaded from the <br />Fifth District City's internet website on a 24/7 basis <br />Ervin Kuspa • Would require the Office of the City Clerk to see that activities on the Youth <br />Sixth District Advisory Council are timely updated and posted on the City's internet website <br />Al "Buddy' Kirsits so that there would be better access to such information. <br />At Large <br />One of most active Youth Councils in the nation is in Boston. It has been <br />Timothy A. Rouse operational since 1994. Some of their many activities include: hosting an annual <br />Ac Large Youth Summit which gathers over 1,500 young people from throughout Boston <br />to hear speakers and provide resources for youth networking; established a <br />Karen L. White Youthline which has access to a database of information and resources; created <br />At Large Positive Image Awards which honor "young people who are good role models to <br />Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand their peers"; conduct surveys in order to identify youth issues and recommend <br />Council Attorney positive solutions and improvements; assist in making Public Service <br />Announcements aimed at youth; work closely with Boston Youth Service <br />Officers and the Boston Police Department on youth safety concerns; work as <br />school advocates with the school superintendent in developing a-mail and cell <br />phone policies, tutoring needs and school safety concerns; worked with over 100 <br />other cities and participated in workshops sponsored by the National League of <br />___ _. <br />
