Department of Public Parks <br />Administration Building <br />St. Louis Boulevard at Wayne Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46617 <br />PHONE: (219) 284 -9401 <br />April 1, 1980 <br />Mr. Lewis Mc Gann, President <br />South Bend Common Council <br />227 West Jefferson Boulevard <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Dear Mr. Mc Gann: <br />The Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common Council <br />to approve the enclosed ordinance appropriating $35,000.00 from <br />the Zoo Endowment Fund to account #260.0, Other Contractual <br />Services. <br />The thirty -five thousand dollars is the third payment from the <br />Muessel- Ellison and Stanley and Flora Clark Trust Funds for the <br />construction of the Educational Services and Wildlife Building at <br />Potawatomi Zoo. The trust funds has committed $380,000.00 for the <br />zoo project. Total payments received to date from the trust fund <br />is $140,000.00. <br />The Park Department appreciates the Common Council's interest and <br />help on the zoo project as shown by its willingness to appropriate <br />revenue sharing funds to complete the wildlife building. <br />I feel that when this structure is completed, South Bend will have <br />one of the finest small zoos in the Midwest. <br />Your approval of this ordinance will be appreciated. <br />very truly yours, <br />EP D'JENT OF PUBLI PARKS <br />ames R.
