McGANN
Dear Council Members:
Fourth District
ROBERT . TAYLOR
Fifth District
WALTER T. KOPCZYNSKI
I' am attaching for your consideration
a Bill setting
Sixth District
forth the Firefight ers' salaries for
the 1981 calendar
BEVERLY D. CRONE
At Large
year. This Bill presently represents
the tentative
RICHARD C. DOMBROWSKI
agreement reached between the Firefighters' Wage
Committee
At Large
and the Common Council Wage
Committee on _
JOHN VOORDE
At Large
May 20, 1980. Excepting the ranks of
chief, assistant
chief, and battalion chief, which are
by the Firefighters'
not represented
Wage Committee, the total expendi-
ture will amount to $482,044.00 for the 1981
For the other three management ranks,
year.
we would
recommend a maximum increase of eight
($800.00)
hundred dollars
per rank.
Since the tentative agreement there have been a series
of events which the Council is well aware Of. As you will
recall, Local #362 of the International Association of
Firefighters did not ratify this agreement. The Council
then sought the help of the Federal Mediation and Con-
ciliation Service, which resulted in a preratification
proposal which was also voted down by the lodge membership.
The proposed Bill therefore represents the last offer
which we left on the bargaining table. In the event
of preratification by the membership of Local #362, then
the terms of the preratific.a.ti:o:n proposal would be incorporated
into the Bill.
I file this Bill in the hope that both the Council and
Firefighters Wage Committees will continue to meet in
good faith so that mutually acceptable amendments to the
Bill can be agreed upon by the public hearing scheduled for
July 14th.
Si cerely,
Lewis A. McGann
LAM /vls Wage Committee Chairman
