BILL NO. 71 -80 ORDINANCE NO. 10 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF FIREFIGHTERS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1981 STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that Indiana Code Section 18- 1 -11 -2 specifically authorizes the Common Council to set salaries for the Fire Department. The Common Council further recognizes that its' Wage Committee has tried to obtain the best possible settlement through good faith negotiations with the Firefighters Wage Committee. The Council therefore has decided that the following provisions be included in the 1981 Salary Ordinance for the Firefighters. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION I. The firefighter shall obtain his second service year on the next succeeding first day of January until he attains the maximum salary for the particular rank he may hold. SECTION II. In addition to the foregoing annual pay, the officers and sworn members of the fire department shall receive compensation for extra duty and special performance as follows: (a) For recall or overtime pay, time and one -half. (b) For regularly assigned drivers of fire trucks and other heavy equipment, the tillerman, the personnel assigned to drive ambulances on regular or rotation basis, $250.00 per year. * Words added Words Deleted ---- - - - - --
