holder shall notify the Department at least twenty-four(24) hours in advance of the time the
<br /> work is ready for inspection. If the work does not pass inspection, a reinspection fee of sixty
<br /> dollars ($60.00) shall be charged for each future inspection of that stage of work.

<br /> (a) No person, firm, or corporation shall erect or cause to be erected a sign in the City without
<br /> obtaining, in advance, a sign permit from the Department.
<br /> (b) The applicant shall file with the Department a completed application on the form provided,
<br /> with all information indicated on the application submitted in full and with all other
<br /> required information.
<br /> (c) All persons, firm or corporation erecting signs in the City for remuneration shall be
<br /> registered with the Department. Registration shall be on forms provided by the Department
<br /> and be accompanied by a ten thousand dollar($10,000.00) bond made payable to the City of
<br /> South Bend, indemnifying the City against all loss or damage to public ways, public places
<br /> and other public property during the course of the work under the sign permit and further
<br /> conditioning that the applicant will indemnify the City and pay any and all personal and
<br /> property damages caused by any negligent act or omission in the erection of such sign,
<br /> proof of liability insurance in the amounts of two hundred thousand dollars($200,000.00)
<br /> per person, six hundred thousand dollars($600,000.00) per occurrence, and one hundred
<br /> thousand dollars($100,000.00) per property damage to save and keep the City harmless
<br /> from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, actions, suits or judgments which may be
<br /> brought, presented, sustained or obtained against the City or its officials because of
<br /> negligence of the sign hanger, contractor or his agents, or by reason of defects in the
<br /> construction, or damages resulting from the collapse or failure of any sign, and payment of a
<br /> registration fee of one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125.00). Said registration shall be for a
<br /> term of one(1)year commencing on the effective date of the surety bond.

<br /> (a) Before a permit is issued to build or construct any new dwelling or building within the City,
<br /> the person submitting the application shall review the Indiana Department of Environmental
<br /> Management (IDEM) list of sites with significant water withdrawals, or an equivalent of the
<br /> IDEM list, to determine the building or dwelling's proximity to such significant water
<br /> withdrawal site, defined as ground water withdrawal of one hundred thousand(100,000) or
<br /> more gallons per day. For purposes of this Section, dwelling or building refers to habitable
<br /> structures, including single-family dwellings,two-family dwellings, multifamily dwellings,
<br /> hotels, motels, boarding houses, lodging houses, bed and breakfasts, and all commercial
<br /> buildings. The Building Commissioner for purposes of this Section shall include his/her
<br /> authorized designee.
