Water main, domestic and fire services, materials and construction shall
be in accordance with the construction standards of the jurisdictional
municipality, AWWA Standards, and these Construction Drawings.
2. Water main (4-inch diameter and larger) shall be Class 50 ductile iron
and pipe fittings shall be Class 250 ductile iron mechanical joint meeting
the requirements of the jurisdictional municipality and AWWA C-110 or
AWWA C-111. Water main joints shall be bell and spigot with
elastomeric rubber gaskets. Joints shall be push -on or mechanical,
unless otherwise noted in the plans. Mechanical joint fittings shall be
restrained by a mega -lug flange or grip ring meeting the jurisdictional
municipality's latest specifications.
3. Water services (less than 4-inch diameter) shall be Type W Copper.
4. All gate valves shall be resilient sealed and meet or exceed AWWA C509
(standard for resilient wedge seated valves) and the jurisdictional
municipality standards. Valves shall be rated for 200 psi working water
pressure with mechanical joints and open left (counterclockwise).
Valves shall be anchored with restrained joints and thrust blocking.
Valves shall be installed with standard cast iron valve boxes, plumb over
the wrench nut of the valve and to finished grade, and have a round
plug -type cover embossed with "WATER".
5. Retainer glands shall be provided on all valves and fittings in
accordance with the jurisdictional municipality standards.
6. Water service shall have a minimum cover of 5 feet.
7. Water pipe shall be backfilled in accordance with the requirements as
set forth in the plans for rigid pipe beneath pavement.
8. Maintain a minimum horizontal clear separation 10 feet between water
and sewer pipes. Where water and sewer pipes cross, maintain a
minimum vertical clear separation of 18 inches. If separation cannot be
met, the sewer pipe shall be constructed of water grade pipe meeting
AWWA Standards for a distance of 10 feet each side of the water pipe.
At crossings, one full length of water pipe shall be installed so that the
joints will be as far from the sewer pipe as possible.
9. All tees, plugs, valves, dead ends, reducers, and bends shall be installed
with a restrained joint in accordance with jurisdictional municipality
standards.
Finished Grade
Initial Backfill:
Select suitable
excavated material
mechanically
tamped to 95%
Standard Proctor
Density; See Note 1
Removable flowable
backfill shall be
placedd for all areas
within 5' of
pavement to 12"
above crown; Above
this limit, structure
backfill shall be used
Bedding Material:
Select suitable excavated material
mechanically tamped to 95%
Standard Proctor Density;
See Note 1
Firmly bed pipe on undisturbed ground;
Excavate for bells; No weight shall be supported
by bells
WATER MAIN PIPE BEDDING TYPICAL DETAIL
(Not To Scale)
NOT FOR PRICING
NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION
FOR REVIEW ONLY
W
0 o>a_
= Nav
_"
c` Env
V
6 0 2 2
>=hd 0 U'
oc
O
Q
S T O
E
=m
oLt3 a
`c 44= a
0oNC9 W
O
`a
0
0
Q
no
O
cv
ZGRt
a,
 cov, u
N C
mMii)
3NN =
,.
v2
0HLn.0
M Vf H W 8
H
Z
W
CL
OWa
OWa
in
W
oz
Z
IIn
Q Z
O
J
W
 _
Q
W
30
Q
1--
Z
W
0
N
W
W
0
s
a
h
J
Q
H
W
H
U
Z
r•
w
J
W
LO
DRAWN BY:
Ni
DESIGNED BY:
DSK
PM REVIEW:
SDR
QA/QC REVIEW:
DSK
DATE:
05/13/2025
SEAL:
?S LIIS►►►/,r 7j6."
A °•:
:No. PE 19900163i =
•: STATE OF r 4 Z
nnnnu
SIGNATURE:
DATE: LV
0511312025
SCALE:
AS NOTED
ACI JOB #
24 -1420
SHEET NO.
C6,2
