The deed and mortgage must be of record by March 1st and the property exemptions must be filed by <br />the homeowner no later than May 10th to receive the savings for the bills issued in the following year. <br />The Indiana Property Tax Benefits form indicates all available exemptions with eligibility requirements. Most homeowners <br />can apply for the homestead exemption and a mortgage exemption but check with the Auditor for any additional <br />exemptions available. <br />Exemptions must be filed in the County Auditor's Office and you will need the following information: <br />1. Tax Key Number: 18-1029-1303 et al <br />2. Recording Number -of Mortgage - Available from the County Recorder about 4 to 8 weeks after closing. <br />3. Mortgage Amount - if filing form mortgage exemption <br />4.
