P102242210 <br />May 7, 1980 <br />Corporation <br />(219) 284-9251 <br />Mr. Wells of this office reported to me that he had conversations with <br />you on April 25, 1980, with regard to the residual properties located <br />near the Town Tower Motor Inn in South Send. fly understanding of your <br />conversation with Mr. Wells is as follows: <br />The original written offer extended to the City of <br />South Bend personally by Mr. Butt on September 4, <br />1979, to the City's Board of Public Works at their <br />regular meeting, in the amount of $45,772.00 for the <br />west property (commonly referred to as Parcel "A") <br />has been withdrawn; and, <br />2. Gurvis/Crown/Tower Motor Inn is now offering <br />S45,672.00 for both the west and the north residual <br />properties as well as for the construction of a new <br />entrance to the west property by the City. <br />Let me first state that I am disappointed that you have chosen to rescind <br />your original offer, particularly in light of the history associated with <br />these transactions. You will recall that the City's initial inquiry in- <br />to the purchase of properties for the Blain/Michigan Connector with Mr. <br />Henry Gurvis centered around only that portion of the affected properties <br />which were required for the proposed new right-of-way. In response to <br />our inquiry, the City was requested to purchase 100 per cent of those <br />
