Patrick M. McMahon, P.t.
Director, Public Works
CITY of SOUTH BEND
ROGER O. PARENT, Mayor
COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND; INDIANA 46601
August 20, 1980
Members of the Common Council
441 County /City Building
South Bend, IN 46601
RE.: McKinley /Manchester Signalization Project
and 1980 Scarification Project,
Dear Councilmen:
Attached you will find an ordinance requesting a transfer of
$105,000.00 from the Sample Street Project to the McKinley/
Manchester Signalization Project and to the Scarification Project.
We were extremely fortunate in that the bids on the Sample Street
Project came in substantially lower than was anticipated. Due to
the low bid, a surplus exists in this Project which can be used
for other projects.
The improvements at McKinley and Manchester include intersection
realignment and installation of a signal. These improvements are
necessary in order to meet the traffic demands in this area.
Additional funds are needed for the Scarification Project due to
unexpected problems which were encountered upon removal of the
existing asphalt, and, in addition, the cost of scarification has
increased substantially since 1979.
Your favorable consideration is requested. If you should have
any questions, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
Ver yo rs
atrick M.
