Wayne <br />Lot 2 Lister's Sub of Cottrell's Large Lot 23 <br />historical notes <br />Lot 2 Lister's Subdivision of Cottrell's Large Lot 23 was purchased by Sorden Listeil <br />in 1881, as part of a tax sale of lots 1 -6. The following year Mr. Lister erected this <br />one and one -half story Victorian cottage on this site, along with a similar house to the <br />east. Both houses were utilized as income property. <br />Mr. Lister belonged to one of the early pioneer families in St. Joseph County, arriving <br />from Delaware in the 1830's. He served as a lst Ward Councilman, and Postmaster. <br />He also operated a bootery at 77 Michigan Street. In 1898 he deeded the property to his <br />daughter and son -in -law, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin C. Mc Donald. They, like their father, <br />utilized the property for income value. <br />Mr. Mc Donald was a prominent photographer in South Bend. He operated the Mc Donald <br />Studio at 211 South Michigan, which he inherited from his father. The Mc Donald's <br />sold the home to Wm. Mc Henry in 1913. <br />The present owners are Gregory Longbride and Daniel H.
