STATUS CODE DESCRIPTION <br /> N/A 1030.7-Emergency escape Required emergency escape and rescue openings shall be maintained in <br /> and rescue openings accordance with the code in effect at the time of construction,and the following: <br /> Required emergency escape and rescue openings shall be operational from the <br /> inside of the room without the use of keys or tools. Bars,grilles,grates or similar <br /> devices are allowed to be placed over emergency escape and rescue openings <br /> provided the minimum net clear opening size complies with the code that was in <br /> effect at the time of construction and such devices shall be releasable or <br /> removable from the inside without the use of a key,tool or force greater than <br /> that which is required for normal operation of the emergency escape and rescue <br /> opening. <br /> N/A 1030.8*-Testing& All two-way communication systems for areas of refuge shall be inspected and <br /> maintenance tested on a yearly basis to verify that all components are operational.When <br /> necessary,the tests shall be conducted in the presence of the fire code official. <br /> N/A 1030.9-Floor identification The floor identification signs required by Sections 1022.9 and 1104.23 shall be <br /> signs maintained in an approved manner. <br /> N/A 1104.23-Stairway floor Existing stairs shall be marked in accordance with Section 1022.9 <br /> number signs <br /> N/A 1104.3-Exit sign illumination Exit signs shall be internally or externally illuminated.The face of an exit sign <br /> illuminated from an external source shall have an intensity of not less than 5 <br /> footcandles(54 lux).Internally illuminated signs shall provide equivalent <br /> luminance and be listed for the purpose.Exception:Approved self-luminous <br /> signs that provide evenly illuminated letters shall have a minimum luminance of <br /> 0.06 foot-lamberts(0.21 cd/m2). <br /> Page 6 of 12 <br />
