PARENT <br />Mayor <br />A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Council Member Puzzello <br />read the resolution, and presented Council Member Serge with a gavel. Council <br />Member Beck made a motion to adopt the resolution, by acclamation, seconded by <br />Council Member Taylor. The resolution was adopted. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1558 -87 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING EUGENIA BRABOY FOR HER FOUR <br />(4) YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS SECOND DISTRICT <br />COUNCILMAN <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that <br />EUGENIA BRABOY has diligently served the citizens of the Second District since 1984; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, COUNCILMAN BRABOY has established a reputation for being involved in <br />following up on citizen concerns, on improved street and alley programs, on improved <br />street lighting, and on improved police and fire protection within the Second <br />District; and <br />WHEREAS, COUNCILMAN BRABOY responded to "grass roots" concerns and developed a <br />rapport in working with people in her District; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes with pride some of COUNCILMAN BRABOY'S <br />many contributions, such as: being elected Vice - President of the Council, being <br />elected Chairman of the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee, working <br />for an improved controlled -use zoning ordinance, working for the development of a <br />hard - surface alley program, diligently working for the West Washington <br />Revitalization Program, working for Enterprize Zone Projects, and sponsoring and <br />monitoring the passage of an Affirmative Action Ordinance for the City of South <br />Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council will long remember COUNCILMAN EUGENIA BRABOY also <br />known as "Mrs. Tax Abatement" as a dedicated public servant who proudly served her <br />community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana as follows: <br />SECTION I. On behalf of all of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, the Common <br />Council hereby publicly commends and thanks COUNCILMAN EUGENIA BRABOY for her four <br />(4) years of dedicated service as a Second District Councilman. <br />SECTION II. The Common Council publicly acknowledges Councilman Braboy's many <br />contributions to help improve the quality of life in South Bend, Indiana, and wishes <br />her and her husband, John continued good fortune in the years ahead. <br />SECTION III.
