PARCEL II . A part of the Southeast Quarter (1/4) of Section Twenty -eight (28), Township Thirty -eight (38) North, Range Two (2) East of the Second principal Meridian, German Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana and described as follows: Commencing at the Southeast corner of said Section Twenty -eight (28) said point being at the intersection of centerlines of Bendix Drive and Lathrop Street, thence North 90000'00" West (Bearing Assumed) (along the South line of the Southeast Quarter (1/4) of said Section Twenty -eight (28) (being along the centerline of Lathrop) One Thousand Four Hundred Twenty -three and Seventy -five Hundredths (1423.75) feet; thence North 0095156" East, Four Hundred and Twenty Hundredths (40.20) feet; thence North 00016123" West, Six Hundred Six and Ninety -eight Hundredths (606.98) feet to the point of beginning; thence North 45002133" West, along the Southerly easement granted to C.S.S. and South Bend Railroad, Two Hundred Two and Thirty -six Hundredths (202.36) feet; thence North 44039149" East, Forty feet 940); thence South 45003133" East along the north easement One Hundred Sixty two and Thirty -five Hundredths (162.35) feet; thence South 00016123" West, Fifty -six and Eighty Hundredths (56.80) feet to the place of beginning. as an Economic Revitalization Area; and WHEREAS, notice of the adoption of a Declaratory Resolution and the public hearing before the Council has been published pursuant to Indiana Code 6 -1.1- 12.1 -2 -5; and WHEREAS, the Council held a public hearing for the purposes of hearing all remonstrances and objections from interested persons; and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the qualifications for an economic revitalization area have been met. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. That the Common Council hereby confirms its Declaratory Resolution designating the area described herein as an Economic Revitalization Area for the purposes of tax abatement. Such designation is for real property tax abatement only and is limited to six (6) calendar years from the date of adoption of the Declaratory Resolution by the Common Council. SECTION II. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. Joseph T. Serge _ Member of the Common Council A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. James Knepp, attorney, indicated PAI properties planned to construct a building which will be used for offices and associated uses of North American Sign Company. He indicated that the first year thirty new jobs will be created, and thirty -two existing jobs will be retained. Council Member Voorde made a motion to adopt this resolution, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried on a roll call vote of nine ayes. BILLS, FIRST READING BILL NO. 1 -87 A BILL TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: THE EAST AND WEST ALLEY NORTH OF COLFAX AVENUE AND SOUTH OF LASALLE AVENUE RUNNING EAST FROM LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD FOR A DISTANCE OF 166 FEET TO THE WEST SIDE OF AN ALLEY RUNNING NORTH AND SOUTH BETWEEN COLFAX AVENUE AND LASALLE AVENUE IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND BEING THAT ALLEY LOCATED BETWEEN LOTS 231 AND 232 AS SHOWN ON THE RECORDED PLAT OF THE TOWN, NOW CITY OF SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA. This bill had first reading. Council Member Puzzello made a motion to set this bill for second reading and public hearing January 26 and refer it to the Zoning and Vacation Committee, seconded by Council Member Braboy. The motion carried. BILL NO. 2 -87 A BILL TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: THE EAST -WEST ALLEY, EXCEPTING 14' NORTH -SOUTH INTERSECTION, IN THE BLOCK BOUNDED BY DUBAIL, CALVERT -GRANT AND WARREN BEING IN HIGHLAND PARK 1ST ADDITION TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA. This bill had first reading. Council Member Beck made a motion to set this bill for second reading and public hearing January 26 and refer it to the Zoning and Vacation Committee, seconded by Council Member Braboy. The motion carried.
