a' H <br />REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 21, 1992 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the <br />Council Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, September 21, 1992, at 5:00 <br />p.m. The meeting was called to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Luecke, Washington, Kelly, <br />Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Coleman and <br />Ladewski <br />Absent: Council Member Duda <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1972 -92 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, CONGRATULATING THE SOUTHEAST LITTLE LEAGUE <br />ALL -STARS FOR WINNING THE INDIANA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE <br />MAJOR BOYS DIVISION <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council notes that each Spring thousands of boys and girls <br />throughout the nation proudly take the "Little League Pledge" on opening day; and <br />WHEREAS, Little League brings the hopes and dreams of youngsters, and their <br />parents into a unique combination of working with League Officials, Managers, <br />Coaches, Umpires, Auxiliary Members, and countless volunteer agencies and sponsors <br />representing a cross section of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council is proud to acknowledge that for the first time in <br />South Bend history, the Indiana State Championship was won by the Southeast Little <br />League All -Stars in the Major Boys' Division; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council is proud to acknowledge each of the members of this <br />winning team: <br />Tyler Back <br />Andy Buda <br />Ryan Cosner <br />Ben Dance <br />Ted Dobosiewicz <br />Garret Ginter <br />Josh Howell <br />Aaron Kaser <br />Tony Mathews <br />James Palen <br />David St. Clair <br />Jeff Steele <br />Nate VanLaere <br />Caleb Wilson <br />Stan Mathews, Manager <br />Phil St. Clair, Coach <br />Chuck Steele, Equip. Mgr. <br />WHEREAS, this group of 11 and 12 year old boys had an overall record of 17 wins <br />and 3 loses, and out hit their opponents with a record 110 runs to only 48 runs <br />being scored by their opposition. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, as follows: <br />SECTION I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />the Common Council hereby publicly congratulates the Southeast Little League All <br />Star Team for winning the first State Championship in the history of our City in the <br />Major Boys' Division. <br />SECTION II. The Common Council publicly acknowledges each of these young men, <br />their coaches, managers, parents, and sponsors for their willingness to strive for <br />excellence and for being proud examples of our community in achieving their goals of <br />the Little League Pledge. <br />SECTION III. Kernan, Mayor <br />A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Council Member Slavinskas <br />made the presentation for the bill. He read the resolution and introduced the <br />members of the team, as well as their coach and managers. Council Member Puzzello <br />made a motion to adopt this resolution, seconded by Council Member Ladewski. The <br />motion carried. <br />
