Mayor Joseph Kernan, 1 <br />E. Pokagon made the presentation on the bill. He stated that jobs are very <br />important in South Bend, and commended Leo J. McKernan, CEO, Clark Equipment, for <br />turning around the financial status of that company and keeping the business in t <br />City. He indicated that Mr. McKernan was featured on the July 16, 1990 cover of <br />Fortune Magazine, and congratulated him for being named a turn - around champ for <br />1990. Leo J. McKernan, 1242 E. Jefferson Blvd., spoke in favor of the bill. He <br />thanked the Mayor and the Council for acknowledging this achievement. He stated <br />that he and his wife have lived in South Bend for 16 years. Council Member Colem <br />made a motion to adopt this resolution, seconded by Council Member Puzzello. The <br />resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes. <br />BILL NO. 29 -90 BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE <br />NORTHWEST CORNER OF HOWARD STREET AND NOTRE DAME AVENUE IN THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion to continue this bill to the August 13, <br />1990 meeting, seconded by Council Member Puzzello. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 46 -90 A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE, AND ESTABLISHING AN <br />HISTORIC LANDMARK FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 119 LAPORTE IN THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />Council Member Slavinskas made a motion to continue this bill to the August 13, <br />1990 meeting, seconded by Council Member Duda. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 47 -90 A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE, AND ESTABLISHING AN <br />HISTORIC LANDMARK FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1533 LINCOLNWAY WEST, <br />IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />Council Member Slavinskas made a motion to continue this bill to the August 13, <br />1990 meeting, seconded by Council Member Duda. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 57 -90 A BILL FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY AND MONETARY FRINGE BENEFITS OF <br />FIREFIGHTERS OF THE SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR CALENDAR <br />YEARS 1991, 1992, 1993. <br />Council Member Puzzello made a motion to continue this bill to the July 30, 1990 <br />Special Meeting of the Council, seconded by Council Member Niezgodski. The motion <br />carried. <br />BILL NO. 58 -90 A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 4, ARTICLE 4, SECTION 4 -51, COMMONLY KNOWN AS SCRAP <br />METAL DEALERS, JUNK DEALERS, RECYCLING OPERATIONS, AND TRANSFER <br />STATIONS. <br />Council Member Niezgodski made a motion to continue this bill to the August 13, <br />1990 meeting of the Council, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion <br />carried. <br />BILLS, THIRD READING <br />90 -36 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERLOCAL GOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND THE TOWN OF NEW CARLISLE, INDIANA <br />CONCERNING WASTEWATER PRETREATMENT ACTIVITIES. <br />Council Member Niezgodski made a motion to continue this bill indefinitely, <br />seconded by Council Member Puzzello. The motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1799 -90 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AUTHORIZING THE SOUTH BEND <br />HOUSING AUTHORITY TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE <br />UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN <br />DEVELOPMENT FOR 133 UNITS OF SECTION 8 <br />CERTIFICATES /VOUCHERS. <br />
