ORGANIZAT_10NAL MEETING JANUARY 1. 1990 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the <br />Council Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, January 1, at noon. The <br />meeting was called to order and Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Luecke, Niezgodski, <br />Soderberg, Puzzello, Slavinskas, <br />Zakrzewski, Coleman, Duda, Voorde <br />Absent: None <br />Council Member Niezgodski made a motion to nominate Council Member Zakrzewski as <br />President, seconded by Council Member Voorde. Council Member Soderberg made a <br />motion to nominate Council Member Slavinskas as President, seconded by Council <br />Member Slavinskas. Council Member Coleman made a motion to close nominations, <br />- seconded by Council Member Voorde. Council Member Zakrzewski was elected as <br />President by a roll call vote of seven ayes and two nays (Council Members Soderberg <br />and Slavinskas). <br />Council Member Coleman made a motion to nominate Council Member Duda as Vice <br />President, seconded by Council Member Niezgodski. Council Member Slavinskas made a <br />motion to nominate Council Member Soderberg as Vice President, seconded by Council <br />Member Soderberg. Council Member Luecke made a motion to close nominations, <br />seconded by Council Member Niezgodski. Council Member Duda was elected as Vice <br />President by a roll call vote of seven ayes and two nays (Council Members Soderberg <br />and Slavinskas). <br />Council Member Luecke made a motion to nominate Council Member Coleman as Chairman <br />of the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Council Member Niezgodski. Council <br />Member Slavinskas made a motion to nominate Council Member Soderberg as Chairman of <br />the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Council Member Soderberg. Council member <br />Luecke made a motion to close nominations, seconded by Council Member Niezgodski. <br />Council Member Coleman as elected as Chairman of the Committee of the Whole by a <br />roll call vote of seven ayes and two nays (Council Members Soderberg and <br />Slavinskas). <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1760 -89 <br />A RESOLUTION <br />OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, COMMENDING ANN B. PUZZELLO FOR <br />HER LEADERSHIP <br />AS PRESIDENT OF THE <br />COMMON COUNCIL FOR <br />THE CALENDAR <br />YEAR 1989. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council <br />of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, <br />notes that Ann B. <br />Puzzello was elected to serve as President <br />of the Common Council <br />on January 1, <br />1989; and <br />WHEREAS, Council President Puzzello has fostered an image of providing quality <br />leadership over a bipartisan Council, <br />WHEREAS, one of President Puzzello's greatest achievements was overseeing the <br />negotiations with the Fraternal Order of Police which resulted in a multi -year wage <br />and benefit package being ratified; the first time this was ever achieved in recent <br />memory; and <br />WHEREAS, her caring attitude and unique ability to balance her constituents and <br />colleagues concerns and request have made her a dedicated public servant that will <br />long be remembered. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. On behalf of all of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, the Common <br />Council hereby publicly commends Ann B. Puzzello further success as she continues <br />to serve the public as 4th District council Member in 1990. <br />SECTION II. The Common Council wishes Ann B. Puzzello further success as she <br />continues to serve the public as 4th District Council Member in 1990. <br />SECTION III.
