<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $2,315,683.00 FROM THE
<br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND FOR THE PURPOSE
<br />OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY
<br />DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND
<br />DESIGNATED SUBGRANTEE AGENCIES, FOR THE PROGRAM YEAR
<br />BEGINNING JULY 7, 1982 AND ENDING MARCH 31, 1983, TO BE
<br />ADMINISTERED THROUGH THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
<br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
<br />The government of the City of South Bend, in partnership with the City's private
<br />sector and residents, is committed to the goal of improving the "quality of life" in
<br />the City, its neighborhood, and for its residents. As part of this commitment to a
<br />comprehensive community development and improvement program, the City of South Bend
<br />through its Division of Community Development has applied for and will receive on or
<br />about July 7, 1982, the approval of the United States Department of Housing and
<br />Urban Development to expend $2,315,683.00 in the execution of certain housing rehab
<br />assistance, code enforcement /demolition, public works, parks /open space/ recreational
<br />facility improvement, public service, economic development, and general administration,
<br />planning /program development activities. In order to implement the aforementioned
<br />activities, funds are required.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, as follows:
<br />SECTION I. The Sum of $2,315,683.00 is hereby appropriated for the program year
<br />starting July 7, 1982 from the City of South Bend's Community Development Block Grant
<br />Fund (Program Year 1982). The appropriation shall be used as approved by the United
<br />States Department of Housing and Urban Development, under Title Twenty -Four (24) of the
<br />Code of Federal Regulations, Part Five Hundred and Seventy (570) for the Community
<br />Development Program Year 1982. This appropriation shall be administered by the Division
<br />of Community Development and its designated subgrantees, and will be distributed as set
<br />forth below:
