Notre Dame Ave <br />south Bend, IN 46634 <br />(219) 235-90o l <br />Fax: (219) 235-9677 <br />August 17, 1999 <br />To the Board of Public Works: <br />Neighborhood Housing Services of South Bend has learned that a vacant lot <br />within our Perley Park target area in the 1200 block of Sorin Street is owned <br />by the City of South Bend. The lot is located at the south east corner of <br />Arthur and Sorin Streets. The parcel number is 18-5078-2732. The IegaI <br />description is: <br />Lot Numbered Nine (9) as shown on the recorded Plat of Happ and Taggart-s <br />first Addition to the City of South Bend, recorded March 29, 1909 in Plat <br />Book 9, page 104 in the office of the Recorder of St. Joseph County, Indiana. <br />Title work and a deed were prepared by Meridian Title Company on this and <br />adjacent parcels before we realized it was not owned by the neighbors, but <br />actually owned by the City of South Bend, Copies of these are enclosed also. <br />This very visible vacant lot is important to our plans for the revitalization of <br />the area. We hope to construct a new home on the lot. We are negotiating <br />with the adjacent property owners for purchase of the other vacant lot next to <br />it. In combination, these would be a perfect building site. <br />We have completed many improvements in the area. (See attached <br />Summary). We have financing available for construction of this new home <br />this fall.
