Vance <br />Director of Utilities <br />Member of the Common Council <br />South Bend Common Council <br />4th Floor <br />City of South Bend <br />Dear Council Members: <br />There will be presented <br />reading of the May 18, 1981 <br />appropriating $28,000.00 and <br />for the use of those funds. <br />2191284 -9322 <br />May 13, 1981 <br />for your consideration at first <br />Council Meeting an ordinance <br />approving an engineering contract <br />As you are aware, the shutting down of the Oliver Well <br />Field potentially could cause problems in meeting water supply <br />demands during the peak usage periods which occur during the <br />summer months. To insure that this potential problem is mini- <br />mized or eliminated, it is essential that alternative supply <br />points are developed within the present system as soon as <br />possible. <br />On my recommendation the Board of Water Commissioners has <br />signed a contract, subject to funding, with Lawson - Fisher <br />Associates for their services in evaluating alternative well <br />expansion sites and for the design of an additional well field <br />whose location has yet to be determined. It is essential that <br />this ordinance be handled in a timely manner in view of the <br />possible problem. <br />Thank you for your attention to this matter.
