<br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES AND WAGES 
<br />OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY 
<br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR OF 1982 
<br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT 
<br />The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, believes 
<br />that fair and equitable salaries for appointed officers and employees of 
<br />the City should be established for the 1982 calendar year. 
<br />The following salaries and wages represent an average of an 
<br />approximate 7 1/2% increase, with members of the Teamsters receiving 
<br />an average increase ranging from$.44 to$.51 per hour. 
<br />The Common Council believes that these are the maximum wages and 
<br />salaries which may be paid in light of ever tightening budget constraints. 
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, 
<br />INDIANA: 
<br />SECTION I. That from and after the 1st day of January, 1982 the 
<br />maximum salaries and wages for the following appointed officers and 
<br />employees of the City of South Bend, Indiana, for the year 1982 shall 
<br />be no more than as follows:
