Attached is an Ordinance which amends the <br />2013 Salary and Wage Ordinance ( 410199 -12) for non - bargaining employees of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana to create that job position within the City. It will be a part-time position, 25 <br />hours per week, or .625 FTE. With the creation of this position, the City will greatly advance the <br />goal and purpose of the Diversity ordinance - -to educate, attract, and better enable minority and <br />women owned businesses to participate in City contracting opportunities. <br />With this ordinance, a separate ordinance is being filed to appropriate funds for the salary <br />and benefits of the Diversity Compliance Officer at $20,575.00, for the remainder of calendar <br />year 2013, as well as to appropriate $5,000.00 for. professional association fees related to <br />diversity development. <br />The City Administration believes this Ordinance will help achieve the goals of the <br />Diversity Development Ordinance of 2011, and hopes that the Council will approve both this and <br />the companion appropriation Ordinance. <br />I will present the companion Resolution and Ordinance to the Common Council at its <br />Committee meeting and at the public hearing. <br />Thank you for your consideration of these matters. <br />med r:, r Office <br />Sincerely, <br />Mark W.
