Attached is an ordinance appropriating the sum of $20,575 from General Fund #101 to cover the salary of this part time employee (0.625 FTE). It also appropriates an additional $5,000.00 from the General Fund to cover costs of membership in two important, diversity related professional organizations, the Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council and the Women's Business Enterprise Council. A separate ordinance is being filed contemporaneously with the attachment which amends the 2013 Salary and Wage Ordinance ( #10199 -12) for non - bargaining employees of the City of South Bend, Indiana to create the "Diversity Compliance Officer" job position within the City. The City Administration believes that both the attached appropriation Ordinance and the companion Ordinance amending the 2013 Salary and Wage Ordinance will help South Bend achieve its goal of increased diversity development in City contracts, and hopes that the Council will approve both Ordinances. I will present the attached Ordinance to the Common Council at its Committee meeting and at the public hearing.
