2) Health officer means the official having the power <br />and jurisdicition to enforce public health laws and regulat- <br />ions within the City. <br />3) Pedd3er -e-*s- a3u� persoassha se 11% ou- nffers_tn_ sell <br />^ from- a- €e ®d- �+e�ad��g--- vehic].e -aml- ice- �itaentisedsuaat_tn- tkis -- <br />- Ghagtev, Operator means one who sells or offers to sell from a <br />(b) Sel <br />s Res <br />gperatgr <br />1) No � sell or offer to sell from a food <br />vending vehicle within a distance of one thousand (1,000) <br />feet of any real estate which is then used as part of the <br />school grounds of any duly accredited public or private grade, <br />junior high, middle or high school between the hours of 7:00 <br />a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on days when said schools are in session. <br />operator <br />2) No- pedd -le-r- /shall use any loudspeaker, bell or other <br />device giving an audible signal to advertise from a food <br />vending vehicle except as provided in section 13 -57 of this <br />Code, and not within a distance of one thousand (1,000) feet <br />of any real estate which is then used as part of the school <br />grounds of any duly.accredited public or private grade, <br />junior high, middle or high school between the hours of 7:00 <br />a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on days when said schools are in session. <br />(c) Annual Inspection of Vehicles by Health Officer and <br />Police Department; Proot of Liabi ity Insurance Coverage <br />Required. <br />1) Compliance with sanitation and health requireme <br />Prior to the issuance of a- gedd4e -rls�llicense as provided in <br />this Chapter, and prior to the use and operation of any food <br />vending vehicle under this article, the vehicle shall be <br />thoroughly examined and inspected by the Health Officers to <br />determine compliance with the minimum sanitation and health <br />requirements specified by the State Board of Health. Written <br />proof of said inspection shall be sent by the Health Officer <br />to the Office of the Controller. <br />2) Required Safety Equipment and Mechanical Condition <br />Prior to the issuance of a- pedd-ier's /license as provided <br />in this Chapter, and prior to the use and operation of any <br />food vending vehicle under this article, the vehicle shall be <br />thoroughly examined and inspected by the Police Department and <br />found to have the following safety equipment on said vehicle <br />to be in good working order: <br />(I) A metal, horizontally extendible sign at least <br />twenty (20) inches in length and at least ten (10) <br />inches in width, imprinted with the words "SLOW" in <br />six -inch, black, block letters on a yellow background <br />and "PROCEED WITH CAUTION" in two -inch, black, block <br />letters on a yellow background, such arm to be <br />lighted at the street end of said arm with two (2) <br />alternately flashing amber lights two (2) inches in <br />diameter, clearly visible from both front and rear <br />at a distance of at least three hundred (300) feet, <br />the bottom of said sign to be at a height of five (5) <br />feet above the level of the street or way. <br />MM <br />
