(mm) Driver's license required. <br />No person shall operate a taxicab for hire upon the <br />streets of the City, and no person who owns or controls a taxicab <br />shall permit it to be so driven, and no taxicav licensed by the City <br />shall be to driven at any time for hire, unless the driver of <br />such taxicab shall have first obtained and have then in force a <br />taxicab driver's license issued under the provisions of this section. <br />(nn) Application contents; physicians's report; fee <br />exception. <br />(1) An application for a taxicab driver's license shall <br />be filed with the Controller on forms provided by the City and <br />verified under oath. <br />(2) The application shall contain the following <br />information: <br />(a) the names and addresses of four (4) residents <br />of the City who have known the applicant for a period <br />of five (5) years. <br />(b) the experience of the applicant in the <br />transportation of passengers; <br />(c) the educational background of the applicant; and <br />(d) a concise history of his employment. <br />(3)" The application shall be accompanied by a certificat( <br />from a licensed physician of th eCity certifying that, in his <br />opinion, the applicant is not suffering with any disease or infirmity <br />which may make him an unsafe or unsatisfactory driver. <br />(4) At the time theapplication is filed the applicant <br />shall pay the the Controller the sume of Five Dollars ($5.00). <br />(5) the provisions of this sub - section shall not <br />apply to persons now having a valid driver's license at the time this <br />becomes effective, but such persons shall comply with the renewal <br />provisions of this section on and after January 1, 1967. <br />(oo) Investigation of traffic and police record. <br />The Police Department shall conduct an investigation of <br />each applicant for a taxicabe driver's license. A report of the <br />investigation and a copy of the traffic and police record of the <br />applicant, if any, shall be attached to the application for the <br />consideration of the Controller. <br />(pp) Application approval or rejection; wri <br />(1) The Controller shall, upon consideration of the <br />application and the reports and certificate required to be attached <br />thereto, approve or reject the application. If the application is <br />rejected, the applicant may request a personal appearance before the <br />Board of Public Works to offer evidence why his application should <br />be reconsidered. <br />(2) The Controller shall submit, in writing, to the:Board <br />his reasons for rejecting the application. <br />(qq) Motor vehicle operator's permit required. <br />Before any application is finally passed upon by the <br />Controller the applicant shall be required to show that he has a <br />current motor vehicle operator's permit issued by the State. <br />55 <br />
